I'm a PSC sound recordist and sound assistant. I work across documentary and drama as well as commercial, corporate, animation and art performance. I trained at the NFTS and now work as a recordist on documentaries for TV broadcast, VOD and cinema, and as an assistant on features and TV drama.
This has allowed me to record in some interesting places, from a school-children's picnic in the foothills of the Andes in Bolivia to a fishing trip off the Anatolian coast of Turkey, and scientists running experiments in a dark matter lab 1.1km underground in Whitby.
This has involved dealing with carnets and traveling and working with kit in some remote and difficult environments, but more importantly being able to quickly form a friendly and respectful working relationship with everyone I work with, from children growing up in prison to politicians.
Having some experience in sound design I know how to help the editor and sound designer by providing clean sound that matches the camera's perspective, roomtones, wildtracks, and useful metadata. I've also been trained in using a Fischer boom and mixing sound for multi-camera TV.
I'm a member of the Institute of Professional Sound.
I am also a field recordist, and interested in the ability of sounds around us to enhance or degrade our everyday experience, to affect our mood, and stimulate memories and new ideas. You can listen to some of my field recordings on Aporee:
